It has often been said that politics and religion can never be mixed, both are autonomous and does not have a say in each other’s business. Something that second-timer presidential aspirant Bro. Eddie Villanueva is trying to achieve. His campaign slogan aptly says: Diyos at Bayan. Dubbed as the Christian Evangelist, Bro. Eddie is once again gearing up into bagging the highest seat in the government with his newly revamped and strengthened political platforms for this country. Even though he lost in the previous presidential election, he has high hopes and enough positivity that everything will be different now. He believes that a government can be renewed by promoting righteousness into people with a moral leader to guide them along the way.
Running under the Bangon Pilipinas Party, Villanueva’s platforms naturally coincides with the tenets of his running party. According to him, in order for the Philippines to get up and recover from diseases that have been plaguing its core, Filipinos must return and acknowledge the simple rule of loving God above all and loving thy own country next. Government officials as well as the people must first and foremost embody all that is good and moral from God. Everyone must be on equal footing and social classes must be eradicated after all everyone is one and the same in the eyes of the Lord. Embracing the good and the truth will lead to a healing of one nation and eventually progress will follow after.
Many people might laugh off Villanueva’s plans and aspirations for the country but certainly he is not alone with his visions of a moral and progressive country. Although a lot of people point out his lack of political experience, he has been an outstanding leader during his university days in Philippine College of Commerce (now Polytechnic University of the Philippines), a champion religious leader and businessman to name a few that has gathered numerous honors and citations in local and international scene.
If the numerous political surveys are to be believed, Bro. Eddie Villanueva then is shrugged off as another presidential hopefuls who constantly remains in the lowest rung of ranks. But like the presidential front runners, he is undeterred by these so-called survey results saying that the people will talk on May 10 and will decide for themselves if they still want the traditional government or an all-new approach to public governance and an uncorrupted official that will lead them in achieving those goals.
